Businessman seeks Tambuwal’s approval to construct drainages in Sokoto South LGA

A businessman in Sokoto South Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Mas’ud Musa Bashir, has appealed to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to allow him handle the cost of constructing drainage networks in Mabera Area that has consistently been hit by flooding.

In a letter addressed to the Governor, and a copy made available to newsmen, Mas’ud Musa promised to abide by the construction specifications of the State Government if it is made available to him.

He said construction has become urgent and necessary because the lives and properties of the inhabitants of Mabera have been under constant threat due to consistent flooding during rainy seasons.

According to him, “Your Excellency is aware that during rainy seasons, the situation of the people of Mabera area has been deteriorating day by day a result of flooding caused by excessive rainfall and lack of good drainage.

” Therefore the concern of the people is for the construction of viable drainage networks within and around Mabera “, he stated.

He said, ” I wish to crave the indulgence of Your Excellency to allow me humbly construct the drainage networks at my own cost, subject to the specification of the State Government thereby affording me the rare opportunity to give back to the community “.

The letter further stated that ” As a concerned indigene of the State from Mabera, I had engaged experts in finding a lasting solution to the problem affecting the area and it’s inhabitants”.

“Should Your Excellency grant my application, I shall engage the engineers to mobilize to site within the next 10 days of receiving your gracious approval,” the letter added.
