Nkata Ndi Inyom Igbo, a socio-cultural group,  has applauded the resolutions of a meeting of Southern Nigeria Governors held in Asaba, the Delta State Capital on May 11, 2021.

The group of women leaders told journalists in Awka, the Anambra State capital, that the 10 points resolution was capable of bringing lasting solutions to the checkered security situation in the region.

Mrs Josephine Anenih, former Minister of Women Affairs and President General of the group said that the ban on open grazing in the South addresses the root cause of insecurity in the region, noting that it will equally guarantee food security in the country.

Anenih said the decision of the Governors was long overdue because lots of women had either been raped, killed or driven away from their farms by nomadic terrorist herdsmen who have been operating unchallenged for a very long time.

The group flayed those accusing the Governors of secessionist agenda instead of commending them for making deliberate efforts to protect the lives and economies of their people.

The women tasked the governors to take the grazing ban beyond mere rhetoric and ensure that it is enforced with grave consequences to violators.

They advised that the Federal Government should strongly consider decentralizing the security operations in the country so that states would be able to control security operations within their domains.

Nkata Ndi Inyom Igbo said there was no better time for components of the Nigerian federation to sit at a table for a national dialogue than now while calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to address the nation immediately as a matter of necessity.
