Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) 2021 Gombe State Ward Congresses Committee, Dr Danjuma Dabo, has given reasons why the exercise in the State took over 24 hours before conclusion.

He told journalists shortly after he started receiving results from the 114 electoral wards of the State, Sunday evening that the exercise started on Saturday in all the 114 wards across the State but that due to the protocols of the exercise which included documentation, issuance of result sheets, waiting for members to arrive the venue among many others, as well as the very long distance before the results could reach Gombe, the exercise extended till Sunday evening.

He said, “we had to set up a committee of three, three people each to go to these wards to do the local Congress committee on Saturday and before all these were concluded, it was 10 to 11am on Sunday and you can imagine the the distance they will cover.

According to him, “it is not an election that is time bound, it is an affirmation because there was consensus. The party prescribed it and it was adopted in Gombe State and it worked very well for us, that is why we held it peacefully in Gombe State and the results are coming in now”.

Earlier, the Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya in his Jekadafari Ward, Jekadafari Primary School, participated in the Congress where 27 executive members were affirmed.

This was done in compliance with what the Stakeholders in the State adopted earlier on following the advice and guidelines from the national body of the party.

He said the APC remains open to everyone who wants to join while expressing his satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

According to him, the party is being transformed in preparation to the 2023 election.

“In Gombe State, we believe we’re in control and by God’s grace, we shall continue to dominate the political landscape in Gombe State and the country at large”, he stated.

The Congresses as observed by our correspondent in some wards in the State capital, was conducted peacefully through consensus.
