Washington, DC.- (Thursday, July 7, 2022).
A group, Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy (NACJD) has said that the recent attack on the advance convoy of President Muhammadu Buhari in his home state, Katsina and the breaching of the Kuje, Abuja Correctional Centre by well-armed terrorists are indications that no one is any longer safe in the country.
NACJD, according to a statement by Prof. Eddie Oparaoji and Chijike K Ndukwu, is a Washington, United States of America (USA)-based advocacy non-profit organization which lobbies the US Government, the Congress, and the policy-making community to influence US policies on Nigeria.
The group noted that “while some Nigerian politicians were busy stoking their divisive ethnic mantras on national television, well-armed terrorists over ran Kuje National Prisons in Abuja and attached President Muhammed Buhari’s advance Convoy in his home state of Katsina.
“These two incidents simply showcase a country where no one is safe any longer, not even the president of Nigeria in his own state and region.”
It lamented that the “socio- economic and security situation in the country worsens every day,” with the current generation of youths worse hit, stressing that “Nigerian youths deserve a decent, honest and detribalized leadership.”
They noted further that “the forthcoming 2023 Presidential Elections clearly provide an opportunity for a national rebirth for social and economic security for all Nigerians.”
NACJD, therefore, called on “every young Nigerian of voting age, to seize this moment and reject any plot to work for the same politicians who have milked Nigeria dry,” urging them “to take back Nigeria, now!”
The group also appealed to “all Nigerians to resist any attempt by mischievous politicians to deploy ethnic and tribal sentiments to derail the current move by young people to return Nigeria to the comity of developed and progressive countries.”
