The Nigerian chapter of an international body of pan-Africanists, the United Pan African Movement (UPAM), is mobilising youths in the country to hold a hybrid seminar on Saturday, July 23, 2023 in Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna State.

The seminar, which has the aim of bringing youths of all religious persuasions from both the North and South of Nigeria together to dialogue and be sensitised on the crucial roles they are expected to play in the efforts to unify and develop the country, will hold at the Restaurant Hall of Arewa House, Kaduna.

The program has as theme, “Religious Tolerance in Nigeria: The Path to Peace and Development,” and will have both in-person attendance and online participants drawn from all over the world.

A letter by Aliyu Suleiman, President, UPAM Nigeria, Zubair Zubair, Global Member, UPAM and Dr. Nelson Aluya, a United States of America (USA)-based Physiciaan and Member of the UPAM Nigeria Board of Directors, announced the upcoming event and stressed that the seminar will bring to the consciousness of the young Nigerians the need to identify areas of common sufferings and the factors that often lead to conflicts in the country.

The program is also expected to promote and strengthen common areas of interest that would unify the country while creating an agenda for the Nigerian youths in the unfolding socio-economic and political environment.

UPAM Nigeria, the letter said, is an arm of UPAM International, a non-governmental organization (NGO) with 1.2 million members in 54 African countries and in the Diaspora, whose aim is “to encourage and strengthen bonds of solidarity between all indigenous and diaspora ethnic groups of African ancestry.”

The group intends to achieve its goal through advocacy and harnessing of the intellectual, political, social, cultural and economic powers of all peoples of African descent globally for the growth and development of the countries of the mother continent.

Dr. Aluya revealed that highly knowledgeable Speakers from different parts of the world are expected to deliver well researched papers at the seminar while there will be an exciting and engaging interactive session with questions and answers.

He also noted that already, the program is generating widespread interest both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora with such organisations as Nigerian Physicians Advocacy Group (NPAG), Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) and Collaborative Council of Nigerians in the Diaspora (CCND) partnering with UPAM Nigeria to ensure the success of the event.
