Testimonies of the glorious and impactful life of service to God and humanity that late Mrs. Olukemi Sangobiyi lived have been told and retold by the many mourners who have been thronging the family house of the Sangobiyis in Union, New Jersey.

Mrs. Olukemi Olaitan Sangobiyi was born on the 1st of April 1964 to the family of the late Rev and Mrs. Oguntimilehin from Ipetu Ijesha. She attended All Saints School Oshogbo and St. John’s Primary School Ashipa, Osun State, Nigeria. She also attended Ayanbeku Grammar School in Ifetedo, Osun State.

She briefly served as a teacher before she went to Oyo State College of Education Ilesha, where she received a degree in Economics. She worked in a Bank and later taught at a Secondary School in Oyo before leaving Nigeria for the United States of America (USA) in the year 2000.

She was married to Abiodun Sangobiyi for 35 years, leaving behind four children and siblings. She worked for the State of New Jersey Department of Health for 15 years.

She studied Child Development with the hope of starting a children’s daycare center someday. She was a devout Christian and showed the love of God to everyone she encountered through her actions.

She was an active member of RCCG Dominion Cathedral NJ, where she served in the Sanctuary Keepers and Pastoral Catering Ministries. One of the ways that she expressed her love was by sharing her gift of cooking. Another one of her many gifts was her ability to make those around her feel like they were a part of her family.

She was kind, loving, and had a personality that illuminated every room she walked into. She was a devoted mother and wife who gave everything to her family. Her hospitality knew no bounds, and she did her best to share the love of Christ with everyone she encountered. To sum it up, her life can be captured by the words in Proverbs 31:10-31.

She is survived by her husband, children, relatives, friends and associates, all of who miss her dearly but who are comforted by the fact that the God that she loved and served faithfully loves her much more than anyone else can.

You’re a faithful disciple of Christ indeed. You have fought a good fight and laid down your baton of service on March 30th, 2023. In the words of Apostle Paul in Phil. 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

I join your family to celebrate a life purposely lived in the fear of God. I stand today to celebrate a humble wife and a great mother who lived an exemplary and impactful Christian life. The beloved wife of Elder Abiodun Sangobiyi.

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom. 8:38-39

The Almighty God will watch jealously over the family that you have left behind.

Rest on in the bosom of your Lord. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Tim. 4:7-8
