Nigeria National League to end regular season this weekend

The final matches in all the eight groups in the Northern and Southern conferences of the Nigeria National League (NNL) will be played Saturday June 10 and Wednesday 14 June, 2023.

This round of matches will be keenly contested in groups where the promotion playoff and relegation spots are still undecided.

At the end of the season, four teams will be promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football league (NPFL) and shall emerge from a Super 8 Play offs at a yet to be decided venue and date.

Top teams in the eight groups will qualify for the Super 8.

For relegation, bottom teams will face automatic relegation to the NationWide League ONE, while the second to the last teams will participate in a relegation play off to complete the twelve teams designated for relegation.

To end the regular season, all the matches in each group will be played simultaneously.

As it stands, some teams have already qualified for the Super Eight Playoffs.

In group A2 Katsina United are through to the Promotion playoffs. In group A1 the battle is between Mighty Jets and EFCC to pick the sole ticket for Super 8.

In group A3, Kano Pillars need a victory against Sokoto United to beat closet challengers Kebbi United FC to win the ticket.

The tussle in group A4 is between DMD and Adamawa United. Following a three points deduction from Yobe Desert Stars for crowd violence and assaults on match officials in their last game against DMD, the battle had been shortlined to a two-horse race.

In the Southern Conference only FC ONE Rocket and Heartland are through from groups B1 and B4 respectively.

Sporting Lagos, Ijebu United and Crown will wait till final day to know who has the ticket in B2.

All three teams have 15-points but it is Sporting in the lead courtesy of plus 3 goals difference.

In group B3, the fight is between Abeokuta Stormers SC and Madiba FC. Stormers have the advantage with 17 points and a plus 9 goal difference and are drawn bye having completed their games, and will wait for the result of the match between Madiba FC vs Ekiti United FC.

Madiba FC have 14 points and a plus 10 goals difference will need an outright victory away to Ekiti United to scale through.
