Boavista defender backs Nigeria to win fourth AFCON title in Ivory Coast

Boavista of Portugal defender, Bruno Onyemaechi has backed the Super Eagles of Nigeria to win a fourth AFCON title in Ivory Coast.

Nigeria will join 23 other African countries for the Cup of Nations which gets underway in Ivory Coast on January 13, 2024.

Already, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn in group A alongside, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

In an interview after Nigeria defeated Mozambique 3-2 to end a 15-game International Friendly winless streak, Onyemaechi said he has confidence in the current Super Eagles squad to win a fourth AFCON title.

The Super Eagles left-back said ” You can’t predict football, things are getting tougher everyday. There are no small countries again . But I believe in our team. If we stay focused and maintain positivity in camp, then we can win the trophy,”

“We are moving in the right direction at the moment, we have won three of our last four games which is good for our confidence.

“I believe we will be ready to compete and give our best in Cote d’Ivoire next year.”

Recently, Onyemaechi has been a Super Eagles starter at left-back, and was one of the team’s standout performer in the International Friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
