Black Futures Summit: Major side events lined up for United Nations Summit of the Future

The Black Futures Summit, being held on the sidelines of the United Nations Summit of the Future in New York, United States of America (USA), has several groundbreaking side events lined up to take place on the Action Days of the global Summit of Heads of State and Governments.
Afro4UN, which is organising the Black Futures Summit has unveiled several far-reaching side events to drive global attention to the challenges facing Black people as well as the opportunities available to them, with a focus on innovative solutions and sustainable development.
The side events, which will address diverse subjects and parade knowledgeable speakers from all walks of life, will at different times between September 20 and 21, generally highlight the visions of the future of Black communities worldwide in relations to other peoples.
The main event (Opening Plenary) of the Black Futures Summit will start at 9:00am on September 20, 2024 and will feature Black political and business leaders, academics, Diplomats, subject matter experts and leaders members of civil society groups.
Some of the side events of the Black Futures Summit will be hybrid, while others will be virtual. They will hold at different venues and times, according to a notice by Yul Anderson, President, African American Future Society (TAAFS).
There will be Panels on “Afrofutures and Globalization,” “FREEDOM HAIR: Agency For The Future,” the “Future of AI/ML and Black Futures,” and on the “Future of Black America and Black Swans.”
There will also be the Haitian Futures Summit, as well as presentations on “Experience of Free Education in Africa: A Case in Ghana, Benin and Ethiopia and its Prospects” as well as a session on “Pan African Future, Faith and the Vision of Food Security for All.”
There will also be a side event on the “UN Declaration for Future Generations: Can It Serve As A Strong Visionary & Moral Compass?: A Civil Society Discussion” as well as one on “The Future Solutions ROUNDTABLE: Ancestral Healing Practices and Possibilities: A Self-Healing Guided Meditation.”
Other side events include “Pan African Future, Faith and the Vision of Food Security for All (hybrid) and “The Media of the Future: Bridging the Gap Between the West and People of African Descent.”
All the sessions are free.
