Sevilla have confirmed that Nigerian international footballer, Chidera Ejuke, will miss up to three months of soccer action due to a hamstring injury. The injury occurred during Sevilla’s 5-1 loss to Barcelona, forcing Ejuke off the pitch just before halftime.
The 26-year-old, who has been one of the standout performers in La Liga this season, was on track for a great debut campaign. He led the league in dribbles per game and was becoming a key player for Sevilla. However, his momentum has now been halted by this unfortunate setback.
After medical tests, Sevilla announced via their social media that Ejuke suffered a high-grade hamstring tear, meaning he will be sidelined for at least three months. If surgery is needed, his recovery time could be extended even further.
Ejuke was recently called up to the Super Eagles squad for the last international break, but travel issues in Libya prevented him from playing. With this injury, Ejuke will also miss Nigeria’s upcoming matches against Benin Republic and Libya in November, delaying his return to the national team until next year.
Sevilla and Nigerian fans will be hoping for his quick recovery as he begins the road to full fitness.
