Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, has presented N102,860 240 billion as the reviewed budget for 2015 to the state House of Assembly.
The immediate past governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, it would be recalled had presented the sum of N127.89 billion as the 2015 budget to the state assembly
While presenting the 2015 reviewed Budget at the floor of the Assembly, Tuesday, the Governor said the budget is tagged; “Prudent Budget for the bedrock of change”,
He explained that ‘most of the provisions made in the 2015 budget do not conform to priorities of current Administration as contained in the manifestos of our party APC. ‘
“This necessitated a need to set the machinery in motion to review 2015 budget, reflecting economic realities as well as the priority areas of this administration in line with the party manifesto,” the governor said.
According to him, the reviewed budget for the recurrent expenditure is N63,382,199,682 while the capital expenditure is N39,478,660,558.
“I am therefore soliciting the cooperation of the Honourable House in carrying a reform in all the sectors of the economy, as the journey may not be easy one, it is therefore imperative to put all hands on deck to achieve in the interest of our dear state and to also expedite action towards passing the reviewed 2015 budget programmes and projects that we believe will meet the yearning and aspirations of our dear people,” he appealed.
Responding, Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Honourable Kawuwa Shehu Damina, commended the Governor for the ‘new hope, new dedication and new commitment to transformation and re -branding agenda.’
“The 31 members have closer interaction with nooks and crannies of the state. We are privileged to feel the people’s pulse more intensely and we feel same on behalf and for the benefit and guidance of all arms of Government.
“It is pertinent to state here that the amendment of the 2015 appropriations law will make way for internal reallocation of resources in the existing budget passed by the previous administration and that will enable the government embark on important development projects in the state.
“The review amendment is equal to need to accommodate new projects that would impact on the lives of majority of people of Bauchi state”, he said.
