Musona confident Zimbabwe can beat Nigeria in World Cup qualifiers

Zimbabwe forward Knowledge Musona believes the Warriors can secure a famous victory against Nigeria in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Michael Nees’ team is still searching for their first win in the qualification campaign. Zimbabwe currently sits at the bottom of Group C with just two points from four matches.

The Warriors will face Benin Republic at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban today (Thursday) before travelling to Nigeria to play the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next Tuesday.

Musona is confident that Zimbabwe can win both matches.

“I’m happy to be back and excited for the upcoming games. My first training session went well, and I’ve seen a lot of quality in the squad,” Musona told NewsDay Zimbabwe.

“I believe the future is bright for the Warriors. I want to help the young players and contribute to their growth.

“In football, anything is possible, and it starts with our next game. Our focus is on getting three points against Benin before thinking about Nigeria.

“With the talent in this team, I believe we can win both games. It all comes down to our effort in training and, most importantly, our performance on the pitch.

“I have strong faith in this team, and personally, I want us to win both matches to keep our World Cup hopes alive.”
