New Jersey governorship primary: Mikie Sherrill is Democratic Party candidate; Jack Ciattarelli flies Republican Party flag

Mikie Sherrill has emerged the candidate of the Democratic Party for the governorship election holding on November 4, 2025 in New Jersey, while Jack Ciattarelli emerged the candidate of the Republican Party in the primaries held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 across the state.

In the exciting races, Sherrill, won the race in the Democratic Party, with popular Newark Mayor, Ras Baraka, coming second, while Bill Spadea came second in the Republican Primary.

Sherrill, a tough former Navy helicopter pilot, federal prosecutor and Congresswoman, will thus be squaring up against Ciattarelli, who has been described as a professional politician and veteran governorship candidate.

They will be running to take over from Governor Phil Murphy, the incumbent, who is a Democrat, and who will be serving out his second term in the office.

Sherrill will, apart from fighting to ensure that New Jersey continues to have a Democratic Party Governor, will also be gunning to make history by becoming the second woman Governor of the Garden State.
