Peter Obi wants Nafisa rewarded, received at Aso Rock for emerging best in English language contest in London

Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate in the 2023 election has called on the Federal Government to formally receive Miss Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, who recently emerged top English language performer globally, in the presidential villa and meaningfully recognise her to “demonstrate that academic excellence is a national value.”

Mr. Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, while congratulating the Yobe State-born 17 year old student, for her outstanding feat at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals competition in London, United Kingdom stressed, in an X (former Twitter) post, that Nafisa, who outshined over 20,000 participants from 69 countries, has proved once again “that Nigerian youths can excel on the world stage when given the opportunity.”

Insisting that that the teenager’s accomplishment “is not only a personal triumph but a moment of great national pride,” Mr. Obi, in the post titled “The Future We Must Invest In: Nadis’s and Others,” pointed out that the youngster’s brilliance was “nurtured through discipline, family support, and quality education at Nigerian Tulip International College.”

He recommended that for the remarkable feat, the Federal Government should “honour Nafisa and all other students who recently brought academic honour to the country,” noting that a “fully funded scholarship would not only reward her excellence but also inspire other students across the country to pursue education with passion and purpose.”

Obi said further that “Education remains the most powerful investment we can make in the future of our country,” urging that the country should “demonstrate that academic excellence is a national value.

“I encourage the government to formally receive Nafisa and her teacher at the presidency as a symbol of our collective commitment to education. Recognising and supporting achievers like her is how we build a nation where merit is honoured and greatness is nurtured,” he concluded.
