

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government of Bayelsa on Friday.
Our correspondent reports that the Bayelsa Chief Judge, Justice Matilda Ayimieye, represented by Justice Inikade Eradiri, administered the national pledge and Oath of allegiance on the corps members.
In his welcome address, the Bayelsa Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Daniel Pepple, said 1,350 corps members registered for the mandatory orientation, and that the corps members are already getting used to the camp.
He said that the corps members, are well behaved, as they listen to their instructors for instructions in the orientation camp.
According to him: “The orientation is for 21 days, after then they will be posted to their place of primary assignment, and they will also under go some skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes.
“The camp will teach them about team work, as to represent themselves productively,” he said.
He said that the country needs them, hence they cannot fail, insisting that they should be responsible in the camp.
The Coordinator commended the Bayelsa Government, led by Gov. Douye Diri, for making the camp very comfortable for all corps members and their commandants.
In his remarks, Gov. Diri said orientation camp is very important to national service, and that they should learn to respect one another, and endeavor not to tarnish the image of those who have trained them.
The governor also urged them to update their skills, through ICT.
He thanked the NYSC for their efforts for youths to receive orientation and assured that the Bayelsa government is very committed to their welfare and safety while in Bayelsa.
