Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has rejected claims connecting him to the ongoing social media dispute between activist VeryDarkMan and content creator King Mitchy.
The disagreement began after King Mitchy renovated a public school within six days with financial support from Tinubu. She later became involved in an online argument with VeryDarkMan over claims that she did not properly account for public donations received since 2025.
VeryDarkMan later accused Tinubu of backing Mitchy’s charity activities and called on the public to hold both of them responsible if anything happened to him.
In a statement shared on Instagram on Saturday, Seyi Tinubu described the claims against him as untrue. He said his only meeting with King Mitchy was in a public setting where he donated money to support her non-governmental organisation.
He explained that the donation was part of his wider youth empowerment efforts across the country. According to him, a follow-up meeting to assess the impact of the support was planned but did not happen due to health reasons.
Tinubu stressed that there was no private meeting, no secret agreement and no wrongdoing of any kind. He said he was concerned that his name was being dragged into a dispute he did not start and was not involved in.
He also accused VeryDarkMan of using the situation to attack him, adding that public support for charity should not be turned into controversy.
Tinubu condemned what he described as online harassment and warned that such behaviour could affect people’s mental health and safety.
He reaffirmed his commitment to philanthropy, saying that for over ten years he has supported projects in education, business development, healthcare and youth empowerment through his foundation and personal donations.
Calling for calm, he urged all parties to focus on truth and responsibility. He said he remains committed to serving young Nigerians with integrity and transparency.
