Presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Peter Obi, has urged members and supporters of the party to look beyond the success of its just concluded convention and “move quickly from celebration to responsibility.”

Mr. Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, in an X (former Twitter) post admitted that the country witnessed what he described as “yet another defining moment in our democratic journey as the ADC convention was held successfully against all odds.”
Insisting that the success recorded was a demonstration of the fact that “democracy thrives when the people refuse to give up on it.,” the former Governor of Anambra State stressed that the show of commitment “is a reminder that the power of the people remains stronger than forces that seek to undermine it.”
He said that now that the convention had come and gone, Nigerians must quickly begin to focus on the “very serious challenges” facing the country, including “economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and a general sense of uncertainty among our people.”
According to him, “these issues require urgent attention, clear thinking, and decisive action.” He noted that the convention must, therefore, not end as another successful event, but “must become a renewed commitment to building a nation that works for everyone.”
He emphasised that “We must focus on offering practical solutions, strengthening our institutions, and restoring hope to millions of Nigerians,” noting that “The way forward demands unity, sacrifice, and integrity. We must put Nigeria first, above personal interests, above politics, and above all forms of division. If we remain focused and committed, I believe strongly that we can build a new Nigeria that is possible, sustainable, and beneficial to all.”
He also paid glowing tribute to the national chairman of the party, Senator David Mark, the convention organising committee led by Senator Liyel Imoke, and all others who contributed towards the success of the convention.
