Chevron Nigeria says it is partnering governments, global health bodies, and communities to strengthen malaria prevention, treatment, and health systems across Nigeria and other African countries.

The company said the collaborations had delivered measurable gains in malaria control and improved overall disease resilience in participating communities.

This is contained in a statement by Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Jim Swartz, on Friday, marking World Malaria Day, observed annually on April 25.

The theme for the 2026 commemoration is: ‘Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must’.

“In Nigeria alone, Chevron-backed programmes have reached thousands of households in the Niger Delta region.

“Similar efforts in Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon have contributed to measurable declines in malaria prevalence,” Swartz said.

He said the company believed progress required sustained investment in the health and wellbeing of communities where it operates.

“Our partnerships help improve health outcomes and create stronger, more resilient communities,” he said.

He noted that Chevron’s partnership with The Global Fund demonstrated its strategic contribution to Nigeria’s development through improved public health.

According to him, the collaboration supports capacity development, advocacy campaigns, and other local initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery.

“Chevron has been one of the largest corporate partners of The Global Fund.

“Its partnership focuses on capacity development, joint advocacy, communications campaigns, and other local initiatives,” he said.

He said Chevron also encouraged staff to share expertise with local programmes to enhance grant reach and performance.

Swartz added that the company would continue collaborating with local health authorities and international partners to sustain progress.

“The aim is to scale up prevention and treatment programmes, invest in community education, and support innovative solutions to eliminate malaria,” he said.
