Victor Osimhen fires Galatasaray to Turkish League title with brace

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray S.K. fought back from two goals down to defeat Antalyaspor 4-2 and win the Turkish League title.

Galatasaray entered the match needing just one point to become champions after failing to secure the title last weekend following a heavy loss to Samsunspor.

The home side started brightly but wasted several scoring chances in the first half. Their poor finishing later proved costly when Soner Dikmen gave Antalyaspor the lead shortly before half-time.

Galatasaray returned stronger in the second half and quickly found an equaliser through Mario Lemina.

However, Antalyaspor shocked the home supporters once again as Dikmen scored his second goal of the game from a well-taken free-kick to restore the visitors’ advantage.

The league leaders continued to attack in search of another equaliser and eventually got their chance after the referee awarded a penalty. Osimhen confidently converted the spot-kick to make it 2-2.

With the match heading towards its final moments, the Nigerian forward completed the comeback by scoring Galatasaray’s third goal to send the fans into celebration.

Kaan Ayhan later added the fourth goal to complete an important victory for Okan Buruk’s side.

The win confirmed Galatasaray as Turkish League champions for the fourth consecutive season with one game still remaining.
