NDC: All issues resolved – Dickson; All must be willing to make sacrifices – Peter Obi

National leader of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, Presidential candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi, and other leaders of the party have held a meeting to resolve recent issues that appeared to be tearing the party apart.
In different social media posts, both Senator Dickson and Mr. Obi confirmed that all is now well with the party, which like some others, experienced disagreements, arising from the conduct of primaries to select candidates for different elective positions.
Dickson, a former Governor of Bayelsa State, said in his post: “I just received my brother, colleague, and partner in the New Nigerian Project, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, CON, our presidential candidate, who, together with some distinguished leaders of our party, held a closed-door meeting which lasted about three hours.
“In the course of that meeting, we reviewed the activities of our party and discussed a few recent issues that have been a source of concern to all sides, and we amicably resolved all the issues.
“We have always been on the same page on the bigger picture, i.e., winning the elections for all candidates of our party and rescuing Nigeria from the misgovernance of the APC-led government. However, a few issues have arisen, and we have agreed on how to handle them moving forward.
“I want to use this opportunity again to call on all members of our party to stop the bickering and name-calling and focus on the bigger picture. Both His Excellency Peter Obi and I, as well as other leaders and stakeholders of our party, will continue to consult and engage with one another to address and resolve concerns, strengthen the unity and cohesion of our party, and ensure that we remain focused on our shared mission of rescuing Nigeria and building a better future for all.
“Happy Democracy Day.

Together Towards the New Nigeria That Is Possible.”
In his own post on his X platform, Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) and former Governor of Anambra State, said that apart from his meeting with Dickson, he also met with his running mate for the 2027 presidential poll, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He wrote: “On this June 12, Democracy Day, I had useful meetings with my partners in the building of the New Nigeria that is Possible: our great party’s National Leader, H.E. Senator Seriake Dickson, and our party’s Vice Presidential candidate, H.E. Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. The NDC, as a party that is barely four months old, despite the challenges, remains the party of the future, and the fruitful discussions at the meetings clearly underscore this fact.
The leaders and members of a committed political family must be willing to make sacrifices and show tolerance and accommodation, even in difficult circumstances. This shared understanding is essential for building trust, strengthening unity, and sustaining the vision we collectively hold for national transformation.
We are all committed to this goal. The NDC remains the vehicle that will convey Nigeria through purposeful, compassionate leadership, with firm commitment to productivity and democratic ideals towards the New Nigeria that is POssible. -PO.”
