Eze Aro honours Prof. Nnenna Oti, wants her appointed INEC Chairman or Education Minister

The Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, His Eminence Engr. Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, has congratulated Prof. Mrs. Nnenna Nnannaya Oti on the occasion of her valedictory thanksgiving and reception, praising her for a career marked by excellence, integrity and service to humanity.
In a goodwill message delivered on June 13, 2026, the monarch described Prof. Oti as an outstanding daughter of Arochukwu Kingdom and announced that the kingdom would honour her with the title of “Ada Ukwu Aro.”
“Success they say has many parents, therefore Arochukwu Kingdom wholeheartedly welcomes you as our illustrious daughter with the highest respect and recognition of our beloved and ancient kingdom, ‘Ada Ukwu Aro’,” Oji said.
He noted that the formal celebration and presentation of the honour would take place on a future date to be agreed upon.
The traditional ruler commended Prof. Oti’s achievements in academia and public service, saying her career had been defined by professionalism and moral integrity.
He also praised her role as Returning Officer during the 2023 Abia State governorship election.
“Your exemplary conduct as the Returning Officer for the Abia State 2023 Governorship Election remains a shining model of transparency, courage, and impartiality. Your unwavering commitment to electoral integrity played a pivotal role in the peaceful and credible election of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, thereby restoring hope and confidence in our democratic process,” he said.
Oji urged the Federal Government to continue making use of Prof. Oti’s experience and leadership after her retirement.
“I respectfully propose your appointment as either the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or the Honourable Minister of Education,” he stated.
He added that her leadership would be valuable in addressing key national challenges, especially in the education sector.
“With your expertise, dedication, and integrity, you are uniquely positioned to drive meaningful reforms that will secure the future of our children and strengthen our educational and democratic institutions,” he added.
The monarch thanked Prof. Oti for her contributions to education, nation-building and human capital development, describing her service as outstanding.
“As you step into this well-deserved next phase of life, I pray that it brings you abundant joy, robust health, lasting peace, and continued opportunities to serve in even greater capacities,” Oji said.
He concluded by saying that although Prof. Oti would be greatly missed in her current role, her legacy would continue to inspire generations to come.
