Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has announced a 25-player squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco as Nigeria prepares to defend its continental title.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade will lead the team, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, midfielder Jennifer Echegini and striker Asisat Oshoala are among the experienced players selected.
The squad also includes home-based goalkeeper Fatima Oloko, defenders Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin and Christy Ucheibe, midfielders Halimatu Ayinde and Toni Payne, and forwards Esther Okoronkwo, Francisca Ordega, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Omorinsola Babajide.
Nigeria are the defending champions and will be chasing a record 11th WAFCON title. The Super Falcons have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi. All their group matches will be played in Rabat.
The tournament will run from July 26 to August 16, with 16 teams taking part for the first time.
The four teams that reach the semi-finals will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The team that finishes fifth will earn a place in the intercontinental play-off tournament.
The Super Falcons won their 10th African title last year after beating hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final. They have also qualified for every FIFA Women’s World Cup since the competition began 35 years ago.
