Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a thrilling 6-2 victory over Egypt on Wednesday night.
With their place in the knockout stage at risk, Nigeria delivered when it mattered most at the Rabat Olympic Stadium, producing their biggest attacking performance of the tournament.
Asisat Oshoala put Nigeria ahead from the penalty spot in the 21st minute before Gift Monday doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time after being set up by Rinsola Babajide.
Egypt pulled one back through Nadine Ghazi, who converted a penalty deep into added time, but the Super Falcons remained in control.
Nigeria came out strongly after the break, with Uchenna Kanu making it 3-1 in the 57th minute following another assist from Babajide.
Christy Ucheibe then converted Nigeria’s second penalty of the night in the 81st minute to extend the lead to 4-1.
Ghazi scored her second goal three minutes later, but Egypt’s hopes of a comeback quickly disappeared.
Rasheedat Ajibade converted another penalty in the first minute of stoppage time before turning provider for Joy Omewa, who completed the scoring in the ninth minute of added time.
The victory means Nigeria finish second in Group C with six points and advance to the quarter-finals.
Malawi top the group after beating Zambia 2-1 in the other fixture, also finishing with six points.
Zambia, despite collecting six points from three matches, were eliminated on the tiebreaker, while Egypt finished bottom without a point.
After a difficult start to their title defence, the Super Falcons have responded with back-to-back victories and will now turn their attention to the quarter-finals.
