Gov. Ugwuanyi challenges less privileged to develop potential; as gov’t seeks executive, legislature synergy

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has called on the less privileged persons in the society to develop their talents for their survival rather than begging for arms.

Governor Ugwanyi speaking through the State Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Princess Peace Nnaji when the people of Enugu in Diaspora presented some equipment and different tools to the inmates of Enugu Rehabilitation Centre Emene enjoined the inmates to develop their potentials and set-up their businesses

Governor Ugwuanyi advised the inmates to see their conditions as act of providence and endeavour to improve on their conditions at all times.

He commended the Enugu Diaspora for their efforts towards alleviating the suffering of the inmates and called on other spirited people to emulate the Diasporas.

In a speech, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora Matters, Mrs. Olangwa N Ezekwu said that the group is made up of Enugu indigenes in Germany, USA, United Kingdom and South Africa, among others.

He added that they visited the inmates to share the joy of Christmas with them and to donate certain equipments and materials to help train them as full artisans to establish their own businesses.

Mrs. Ezekwu commended the Coordinator of the group, Rev. Mike Maduabuchi Ugwu who made the occasion successful.

The Special Adviser advised the inmates to make good use of the donated equipment and materials, adding that when they visit again in 2016 that they expect to see the impact of the materials donated.

Meanwhile, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has assured that the executive council will continue to work in synergy with the state legislature to move the state forward.

In a speech on the occasion of a civic reception in honour of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Edward Ubosi by the people of Enugu East zone thanked the Speaker and the members of the House of Assembly for their commitment in moving the state forward.  The governor equally commended the people of Enugu East zone for their support to his administration, adding that they should not relent in their efforts to move the state forward.

In a remark, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ubosi assured Governor Ugwuanyi that the House will not delay any executive bill that is for the interest of the people.  He used the occasion to thank once again his colleagues for electing him the Speaker, assuring them that he would pilot the affairs of the House of Assembly with the best of his knowledge. He thanked his people for the honour done him assuring them that he would not disappoint them.

Earlier in an address, the Chairman of Nkanu East local government council, Prince Cornelius Nnaji commended, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for what he had been doing in Nkanu land, especially in the area of infrastructural development.  He assured the governor of his people’s support to his administration.

Governor Ugwuanyi was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of “Gburugburu 1 of Enugu State by the Nkanu traditional rulers’ council while the Speaker was conferred with the title of “Ezesinachi of Nkanu land and his wife “Ugochinyere”.

The event was attended by many dignitaries including the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Chuka Utazi and the Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Rita Maduagwu and that of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Nwafor among others.
