Three suspected murderers have been paraded in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital by the State’s Police Command, Tuesday.

The suspects are; Mr. Anietie Dan Obong, Mr. Endurance Friday Akpan and Mr. Idio Gideon Idio.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Cordelier Nwawe said, they all committed the heinous acts November and December this year.

She explained that one of the suspects, Mr. Endurance Friday Akpan, 18, from Idio Nung Iba village in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area tricked his mother, Mrs. Lovina Friday Akpan out of her room the eventful day, and told her (the mother) that, he had something important to discuss with her.

“As they got to the room where Endurance took her to, he (Endurance) tied his mother’s hands to her neck with a wrapper and strangulated her to death.

“After she died, he pulled her out of the room and took her close to a pit toilet within the compound and dumped her there, in the morning of November 25 and thereafter left for Port Harcourt, where he was arrested”.

Mr. Endurance however, confessed to the murder and pleaded guilty to his wrong doing.

“I killed her because she tried to poison me and not to let me understand myself any more. She did not want me to go to my father’s place and start school. She wanted me to stay with her at home and go to farm with her.

“She tried to give me something from the bucket for me to drink so that I would lose my memory. I used wrapper to tie her net; she was not sleeping. She was lying down when I killed her.”

Another suspect, Mr. Gideon Idio, an acclaimed pastor of God’s Power Church in the metropolis from Nkwa in Ibiono LGA but residing at 14 Fine Face Street, Off Enen Afaha, Uyo was alleged to have called his victim, Ms Joanna Okon, ‘f,’ of 62 Udotung Ubo Street, to come over to his office.

The PPRO said on arrival, both of them engaged in a scuffle that degenerated to a point that, the suspect attacked the deceased and she collapsed and died inside his office.

“The so-called pastor locked the deceased inside his office and used the deceased phone to call her close relation claiming, to be a tricycle who picked up the girl from Udotung Ubo Street to Itam where she  slumped inside the tricycle while rushing her to an undisclosed hospital.

“As if that was not enough the suspect later at about 1900 hours informed the relations of the girl that he saw the corpse of the deceased at IBB Way in Uyo and has removed the corpse to his office, after which the suspect and relations of the deceased conveyed the corpse to a mortuary at Ibiono Ibom.”

Also, Mr. Anietie Obong was said to have taken custody of his house help, Happiness Isaiah, with the hope that the suspect would send the decease to a secondary school.

Nwawe stated that sometime in December 2015, the suspect’s wife lost her three months pregnancy and the suspect was unhappy about the incident.

She stated that when the deceased had served the suspect with his wife dinner, the suspect summoned the deceased to his parlour, started beating her which resulted in lacerations to her leg, hand, stomach and the back.

“The suspect further poured hot water on the deceased’s thoracic cavity and the back. These antics on the deceased, who was only 16 years, caused her death”, she stated.

Though all have confessed to the crime but, the PPRO maintained that, the suspects would be prosecuted accordance with the law.

She warned members of the public to steer clear from crime as the police command would not leave no stone unturned in crime in ensuring that crime is reduced to its barest minimum.
