The embattled chairman of Oredo local government area of Edo state, Hon. Osaro Obazee has described his sack from office by the state Assembly as ‘laughable and very unfortunate.’

Obazee who had earlier been suspended by the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on allegations of not being able to pay workers’ salaries among other sundry issues said the state government had violated the very basic fundamentals of rule of law.

Obazee who said he was in court to challenge the position of the law as regards his earlier suspension described the sack action as contempt of the court.

Speaking with newsmen in Benin city, Obazee said “I would like to make one or two statements as regards the position of the House of Assembly towards my earlier suspension. My own position is clear, it is laughable that the comrade governor who is a beneficiary of the rule law, could constitute himself in this way and manner to the extent that he contempted the court by not waiting for the judgment. This is a matter the judgment has been slated for the later part of this month and we all expect that the court will be the final arbiter in this issue.

“It is very unfortunate yesterday they went ahead to say that I have been relieved of my office, which powers I have been challenging. Now that the matter is before a court of competent jurisdiction, it is laughable and very unfortunate that the people who swore to uphold the law are now the people disobeying the law.

“There is no way, we cannot respond to such things. Whatever the situation we are now, I expect that judgment will be given on the 23rd and I pray that the judgment will be in my favour. I am convinced that the court judgment will be in my favour because of my position. I am in court to challenge the position of the law in my suspension from office as the Chairman Oredo local government area.
