Despite the leadership crisis rocking the opposition p Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chieftains of the party in a rare show of solidarity thronged the Siasia Sport Complex, Sunday, for the swearing-in ceremony of re-elected Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson.

However, former President, Goodluck Jonathan who adopted Dickson for second term in office on the grounds that he remains the only sitting governor to pay workers’ salaries and the first civilian governor in the state to build flyover bridges, was conspicuously absent along with wife Patience, as no reasons were given for his absence.
Dickson who was sworn in by the Chief Judge of the Bayelsa state, Justice Kate Abiri alongside his deputy, John Jonah said the victory has shown that ‘God Almighty holds the key to victory alone and not man, ‘adding; ‘powers flows from God Almighty.’
The highly-elated Dickson said, he had managed many political trials within the last 4 years both from within and outside the state.

“Let the good people of Bayelsa nation rejoice, let the Ijaw nation also rejoice and let the supporters of PDP in the state also rejoice at our election victory.”
Dickson said he has ‘helped to sustain the plurality of our democracy’ just as he appealed to the opposition parties to join hands in building a stronger state.
“Political parties come and go, candidates come and go, but Bayelsans remain undivided.”
Dickson while thanking his mother and his late father including the supporters for standing behind him during the hard times called on the federal government and the security agencies to partner with his administration to flush out criminals who looted state properties.
Accompanied by his wife, Dame Rachel Dickson, and his children, Dickson urged security operatives not to be intimidated in fighting and executing their duty in the state.
On his next agenda for the state, Dickson said in the next four years, his administration would concentrate on rural development and rural electrification in all the communities in the state.
Dickson also vowed to fight insecurity and attract foreign investors to the state for even development
