Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has praised the management of Evangel University Akaeze, Ebonyi State, for its achievements which, according to him, belied the institution’s rather brief period of operation.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, gave the assurance when he received in audience the management of the school at the Government House, Enugu.

Noting that it is gratifying that the institution has produced its first batch of graduates, he said, “the university has no doubt helped to add value and extend the gateway to tertiary education in this country especially in the South-East region”.

He urged the management of the school to sustain the noble ideals behind its founding and to always bear in mind the importance of education.

The university’s vice-chancellor, Professor Charles Umechuruba, had earlier in his speech commended Governor Ugwuanyi for his accomplishments on infrastructure and enhancing of workers’ welfare.

He said that the Assemblies of God Church’s foray into the educational sector was inspired by the vision to contribute to the academic yearnings of Nigerians, adding that the institution has been living up to the mandate, remains non-denominational and aims to make significant impact in the society.

Professor Umechuruba solicited the governor’s support in this direction and pledged the church’s continued prayers for his administration.
