Ugwuanyi swears in Egumgbe, Nweze as Judges

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State Friday swore in Hon. Justice Ebele Mabel Egumgbe and Hon. Justice Ugonne Jacinta Nweze as Judges of the High Court of Enugu State and the Customary Court of Appeal, Enugu State, respectively.
 
Hon. Justice Egumgbe until her appointment was the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Enugu State, while Hon. Justice Nweze was the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Customary Court of Appeal and Chief Inspector of Customary Courts, Enugu State.
 
Speaking after the oath-taking administered by the Solicitor-General of the State, Barr. Victor Emeribe, Gov. Ugwuanyi noted that the appointments and swearing-in were sequel to the recommendations of the National Judicial Council through two separate letters dated 27th February, 2017 with reference Nos. NJC/S.1/XXX1/788 and NJC/S.1/XXX1/790.
 
The governor disclosed that “the National Judicial Council, informed me that, after due deliberations and consideration of the aforesaid nominations and based on the reports of its Interview Committees, it found Mrs Ebele Mabel Egumgbe and Mrs Ugonne Jacinta Nweze suitable for appointments as Judges of the High Court of Enugu State and the Customary Court of Appeal, Enugu State, respectively”.
 
He also revealed that the Enugu State Judicial Service Commission (ESJSC) had through two separate letters dated 19th September, 2016 with reference numbers: ENS/JSC/S.250/1/285 and ENS/JSC/S.250/1/292, conveyed to the National Judicial Council, a request for recommendation of the appointment of Judges into the aforementioned offices.

“In compliance with this recommendation therefore, I have, most respectfully, appointed and sworn in Hon. Justice Ebele Mabel Egumgbe, as a Judge of the High Court of Enugu State and Hon. Justice Ugonne Jacinta Nweze, as a Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal, Enugu State”, Gov. Ugwuanyi stated.
 
Congratulating the new Judges for their well deserved appointments, the governor charged them to diligently discharge the duties and responsibilities of their offices, which he said, entail the dispensation of justice anchored on righteousness.

Responding, Hon. Justice Egumgbe on behalf of her colleague thanked the governor for the appointment and all others that contributed towards their elevation and promised to discharge their duties diligently and with the fear of God.
