Military commences construction of critical infrastructure in Sambiza forest

Following the successful clearing of Sambiza forest by the military and the determination of the Nigerian Army to maintain grip on the erstwhile Boko Haram strong hold, the Army has embarked on massive construction of roads, drilling of boreholes and provision of other social amenities in Sambiza forest.

The Nigerian Army Director, Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman Kukasheka, in a statement said “making good of it’s promise of clearing the Boko Haram terrorists and making Sambisa fit for lawful activities, the Nigerian Army is further consolidating on the successes of Operation DEEP PUNCH II by troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, through infrastructural developmental.”

He said, “apart from road constructions, it is further consolidating it’s success in Sambisa forest through infrastructural development in the area. The Nigerian Army has also constructed a borehole in Sabil Huda in Sambisa forest”.

The statement further stated that the troops will begin to enjoy water supply from the borehole. Apart from
greatly reducing the logistics effort of conveying water from one point to another by the troops, the water project will also assist the adjoining communities very soon.

It could be recalled that the military through Operation Deep Punch II has cleared Sambiza forest including the spiritual headquarters of Boko Haram in Camp zero.
