Some Governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State have vowed to unite and support whoever emerges as the party’s flag bearer after the party’s primaries.First to air his mind just before the commencement of the ward Congresses in Gombe was Abubakar Habu Mu’azu who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Congresses.
He assured that the Congresses will be peaceful considering the fact that the party wants to takeover power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as such, disunity will not allow them achieve victory.
He said, “We can not allow ourselves to be in rancour and have problems after the Congresses, we hope the Congresses will go smoothly adding that all the aspirants reached a united stance for the sake of the success of the party”.
Baring his mind on the Congresses, the State Minister of Works, Suleiman Hassan, expressed happiness over a departure from the past where some one sits somewhere decides the lists of delegates.
But speaking earlier, Chairman of the committee for the conduct of the Congresses in the State, Alhaji Suleiman Kawu Sumaila regretted the late commencement of the Congresses which he attributed to their late arrival to Gombe.
According to him, the exercise was supposed to have commenced by 8:00 am but that due to human factor, it will commence by 2:00 pm.
However, our correspondent reports that up till 3:15pm, the committee members had not departed to their various LGAs for the conduct of the Congresses and even as at the time of filing this report, the results were still being awaited.
