2019: Atiku woos Dankwambo for support; ‘It’s a matter for another day,’ says Dankwambo

Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has told former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, to suspend seeking his support for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s, Presidential ticket until they go to the negotiation table in future.

Both Dankwambo and Atiku are aspirants to the PDP’s presidential ticket from the Northeast zone of the country.
Governor Dankwambo stated this when the former Vice-President came to the Government House Gombe to seek Dankwambo’s support to pick the party’s ticket for the 2019 Presidential election.
According to him, the delegates from Gombe State will sit down and negotiate based on what will benefit the State and Nigeria as a whole, more so, politics is about give and take.
He commended Atiku Abubakar for re-invigorating and bringing life back to the party, stressing that the former vice-president has done a lot for the progress of the party. He also said he believes the PDP is not a party of nonentities.
Governor Dankwambo assured that the people of Gombe will not engage in the crude or arrogant way of playing politics as it was done in the past but that it will be involved in the politics of intellect, capability and development.
Earlier, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar had commended the developmental strides of Dankwambo in the State and stressed the need for a united front from the Northeast region to produce the next President of Nigeria.
While seeking the support of all, he assured of his readiness to work towards producing the next President of the country from the Northeast. He said that can only be achieved if they are united.
