A group called Borno Youths and Students Discussion Forum (BYSDF) has urged the Senator representing Southern Borno,, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, to go and rest and has assured that it would throw its weight behind Alhaji Sanda Garba to represent Borno South Senatorial district at the National Assembly in the forthcoming polls.
Speaking at a Press briefing held at the Correspondents’ Office, Maiduguri on Wednesday, the Secretary of the Group, Prince Mohammed Hassan said “we have carefully observed and appraised the present situation in Southern Borno and decided to support Alhaji Sanda Garba, as you will agree with me that he has been offering scholarships to our students and has even secured jobs for our youths and we believe he will do more when elected.
” Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has been there for long, we believe he should leave the scene for others to also contribute to the development of Southern Borno and Nigeria at large”, the group added.
He said Alhaji Sanda Garba has required political experience, exposure and shock absorber and believes in ideas encapsulated in the Nigerian constitution and also believes in the unity, prosperity and indivisibility of not only Southern Borno but Nigeria as whole.
” We call on Senator Ndume to take rest and allow people that are ready for the sacrifice to take over and we will mobilize fully to support Sanda,” Hassan said.
He said as people of Southern Borno are calling for power shift, Ndume should go and contest the Governorship of Borno, stressing that the Group is ready to support his candidature for that position but not for the Senate.
