The Ahmed Kawu Heart for Children Initiative (AKHCI) has donated food and other household items to two orphanages in Gombe in the spirit of the Christmas season.
The orphanages are Christian New Covenant and Orphanage Foundation (CNECOF) and Da’awah Orphanage Home, all located in Tumfure, in the outskirts of Gombe town.
Malam Sani Jauro, Director of the foundation, said during the donation of the items which included clothes, food items, toiletaries among many others that the gesture was aimed at bringing succor to the less privileged in the society.
He said the Foundation, which receives Funding from Pro-Health international, has been engaged in humanitarian services and encouraged the authorities of the orphanages with the good works they have been doing.
According to him, what they are doing is a great service not only to the children themselves, but to the immediate society and humanity in general.
He also encouraged the authorities of the orphanages to ensure that the orphans are trained and disciplined in such a way that they will not feel neglected by the society and that they can grow to be leaders of tomorrow.
Receiving the items, the Executive Director, Christian New Covenant and Orphanage Foundation (CNECOF), Mr. Polycarp Yusuf Degri, commended Ahemed Kawu Foundation for identifying with them by bringing donations in this season of Christmas.
He decried the attitude of some agencies and NGO’s who he said, divert relief materials meant for the less privileged in the society. He said, “I call on SEMA, NEMA, NGO’s, Christian and Muslim leaders to be accountable and avoid taking advantage of orphans, widows and other less privileged groups by enriching themselves. God will fight for their rights and no one can stand the wrath of God”.
He said CNECOF was established in 2009 but registered in 2016 and currently has 86 orphaned children and 167 old aged widows under its care.
On his part, the Administrative Secretary of Da’awah Orphanage Home, Malam Abubakar Usman appreciated the organization and described the visit as sign of care and concern for the orphans.
He called on other organizations and individuals to emulate Ahmed Kawu Heart for Children Initiative and prayed Allah to reward their good deeds.
