Astute politician, renowned educationist, Christian leader, Pa Isaac Ajewole passes on at 78

Pa Isaac Olayinka Ajewole has passed on to glory and will be committed to mother earth on Friday, March 22, 2019 in Lagos, Nigeria.

He was born on March 9, 1941 to Mr. David Ajewole (Ijoka Ilesha) and Mrs.  Dorcas Odeyemi Ajewole (Igbogi Ilesha).

He attended the Anglican Secondary School and St. Paul’s College, Ibara, Abeokuta. Ogun State. He graduated from Government Teacher Training College, Lagos with a Grade 2 Teacher Certificate in

1968 and got a Diploma in Education from the University of Lagos in 1977 after he was promoted to Teacher Grade 1 in 1975. He also obtained a certificate from the Institute of Bookkeepers Association on Company Law and Practices in 1972.

He was a teacher per excellence and his teaching career spanned over 25 years. In 1984, in addition to his duties as Head Teacher at Community Primary School, FESTAC Town, Lagos (1984 – 1985) and then Asst. Head Teacher at 7th Avenue Primary School, FESTAC Town, Lagos (1985 – 1986), he was deployed to Lagos State Ministry of Education Task Force on School Text Books and Stationery (1984-1986). He ended his professional career at Evans Brothers Nigeria Publishers Ltd. as a Senior Field Sales Manager (1986 – 1999).

Aside his teaching career, he was also an ardent and zealous politician even up to the time of his demise. His political career started as a Ward Secretary and he went on to become Chairman, Central Working Committee, between 1979 – 1983 under the then UPN party. He was also a two-term Chairman, PDP, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State from 2007 – 2015.

Pa Isaac was also a member of the Omo Obokun Social Club, Lagos, and held positions ranging from Welfare Officer to Chairman of the club.

He was equally a devout Christian. He co-started the First Baptist Church, FESTAC Parish in 1977 and remained there for many years. In 1996, Pa Ajewole was ordained a Deacon in the Gospel of Reconciliation Mission, FESTAC Town, Lagos and in 2013 he embarked on a holy pilgrimage to Jerusalem. He attended and rededicated his life to Jesus Christ at the Mountain of Fire Ministry remained faithful till his death.

He departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bolanle Olufunmilayo Ajewole, his children: Olugbenga Olajide Ajewole; Omolola Olukemi Ajewole; Olusoji Olawale Ajewole; Omolara Olubunmi Eguaoje and eight grandchildren, his sister, Mrs. Dupe Adeyemo, his brother, Mr. Alani Ajewole and a host of relatives and friends.
