Ajanaku, Adetula families begin burial program for Matriarch, Late Mrs. Deborah Ajanaku Makun, nee Adetula, aged 104


The Ajanaku and Adetula families of Owo Kingdom in Ondo State have announced the passing of their Matriarch, Late Mrs. Deborah Adeyoriola Ujayoriade Ajanaku Makun, Nee Adetula, aged 104 years.
The families have also announced the burial arrangement for the much loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and in-law who has gone to eternal rest.
According to the burial programme, there would be the Ajabue Dance round the Town on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 9:00AM to 6:00PM to honour the memory of the renowned community leader, philanthropist and legendary member of the Diocese of the Methodist Church Cathedral, Owo, whose life positively impacted many people in the Town and far beyond.


On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, a Service of Songs will be held at the Ayiwobu Conference Centre, Mydas Hotels & Resorts, Owo, Ondo State, from 4:00PM to celebrate the life and times of the revered Matriarch, while on Thursday, April 16, 2026, the Lying-in-State will begin at 2:00PM at the Ajanakus’ compound, Isolo Street, Owo.
A Christian Wake Keep will take place at the same venue on the same Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 4:00PM, and on Friday, April 17, 2026, the Burial Service will hold at the Methodist Church, Oke Ogun, Owo, Ondo State from 10 AM to 1:00PM before interment at her residence.
A grand reception will follow the interment at the Boje Ibidapo Hall, Mydas Hotels & Resorts, Ikare Road, Owo, Ondo State in celebration of the beautiful life that the good woman lived.
Family members, friends, associates and other distinguished guests from all over the world are already in town and ready to take part in the historic home going programme of the highly respected Mama Deborah, the bosom friend and closest sister, from childhood, of the late Yeyelori Caroline Mikoriola Olateru-Olagbegi, The Yeyewangwe of Owo Kingdom.
The extraordinary bond of love between the two celebrated Matriarchs, which usually illuminated the palace of Oba Olateru-Olagbegi of Owo Kingdom, has been successfully transferred to their children and is even stronger than ever up to this day.
The home going programme of the beloved Mama Deborah is expected to be like a big and beautiful carnival,-and a celebration the worthy legacies she has left behind, legacies that will continue to live on, long after her.
