Don exonerates Kassim Afegbua …Urges Police to take it easy with him

Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim
David Amusa, Port Harcourt

A lecturer in the department of Linguistics and Communication Studies, University of Port Harcourt, Dr. Sunny Mbazie has said that he believes that Kassim Afegbua was not guilty of circulating false information.

Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, on the declaration of Afegbua as wanted by the Police, the lecturer said that one of the lessons given to press secretaries is that they should not issue any press release that impinges on the integrity of their principal without clearance from him.

“I think Afegbua couldn’t have cooked up that press statement”, Mbazie said.

The University teacher pointed out that what ex-President Ibrahim Babangida did was to apply one of the 48 laws of power by coming out clean and blaming a fall guy in the person of Afegbua.

“May be his comment was generating ripples in ASO rock, capable of threatening his interest, so, he quickly retracted, debunking the statement”, he said.

He advised the Police to take it easy with Afegbua and urged ex-President Babangida to speak out as a statesman on national issues.
