Prof. Achebe stars at International Women Month event on Saturday, March 30



Professor Nwando Achebe, a renowned Professor of History and daughter of world famous writer, late Professor Chinua Achebe, will, on Saturday, March 30, 2024, feature at an International Women’s Month Celebration program for a worldwide audience.
The event, being put together by Petersburg, Virginia, United States based Shades of Ebony Kulture, World Ebony Network (WEN)’s Book Club, will take the form of a book discussion focused on one of the books of Prof. Nwando Achebe – THE FEMALE KING OF COLONIAL NIGERIA, AHEBI UGBABE.
Starting at 11 AM EST, the discussion, which promises to be engaging and exciting, is scheduled to end at 1 PM and will be holding virtually on the zoom platform.

Nwando Achebe, a multiple award winning Nigerian-American academic, administrator and feminist scholar is the Jack and Margaret Sweet Endowed Professor of History and the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the College of Social Science at the Michigan State University.
She was born in Enugu, Nigeria to Prof. Chinua Achebe and Prof. Chinwe Achebe, a Professor of Education, and is married to Folu Ogundimu, a Professor of Journalism at Michigan State University. They have a daughter.
Nwando Achebe, whose brother, Dr. Chidi Chike Achebe is a Physician-Executive, obtained her Ph.D. in African History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2000 and specializes in West African History, women, gender and sexuality histories.
