Transfer expert has disclosed that Arsenal have formally lodged a £31.3m transfer bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to their complete squad.
The 27-year-old, who has enjoyed a prolific spell at the Spanish giants since he joined from Lyon in 2009, has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates for several seasons.
Benzema’s future has become increasingly unclear with Madrid boss Rafael Benitez planning on moving Cristiano Ronaldo into a central position.
And, according to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, the Gunners have stepped up their pursuit of the France international by submitting an offer of £31.3m.
Arsene Wenger’s hopes of landing the striker may be scuppered, however, as while Madrid were initially open for discussions; they are now believed to be scrapping talks with Arsenal.
