A former governorship candidate in Abia State, Chief Dike Ogbuehi, has urged Christians to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ, especially His love, compassion and selfless service.
In a Christmas message, Chief Ogbuehi said that these virtues are needed to make Nigeria great again, stressing that Nigerians should use the occasion of the yuletide to pray for peace, unity, progress and prosperity of the country as well as for sustenance of democracy.
The Abia State-born politician also urged the Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to take governance more seriously, and be mindful of the expectations of the people of the State who voted him into office, noting that the deplorable state of Aba, the commercial hub of the South East geo-political zone was a sad commentary.
“As a major stakeholder in Abia State and former United Progressive Party (UPP) governorship candidate in the State, l am deeply pained over the infrastructural decay in Aba and urge the government to take immediate steps to address the situation, particularly as it concerns the roads,” he said.
Ogbuehi noted that “the essence of government is to improve the people’s standard of living. Past governments in the State neglected the famous Enyimba City. It is unfortunate that Dr Okezie (Nwa Aba – Aba son) has also abandoned the good people of Aba who ushered him into power” wondering “what happened to the slogan nwa Aba ga aruzi Aba”(Aba son will remedy Aba).
He stressed further that “the need to execute durable people-oriented projects in Abia State, particularly in Aba cannot be overemphasized. A responsible government cannot neglect a commercial hub like Aba for any reason. Dr Ikpeazu should emulate his counterparts in Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom States by accelerating the State’s infrastructural development. It was what motivated me to run for governor in the 2015 general election, to restore Aba’s past glory in particular and other cities/communities in general.”
He prayed that the new year, 2021 will be a far better year for all.
