The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria Branch, has donated working materials to six units of the university.
The association also provided financial support to its members who retired in 2025.
The Branch Chairman, Malam Muhammad Yunusa, disclosed this during a presentation ceremony held in Zaria on Tuesday.
Yunusa said the gesture was part of the association’s corporate social responsibility aimed at supporting critical service units and appreciating members for their years of service to the university.
He explained that the beneficiaries included the Security Division, Medical Centre, Staff School, Demonstration Secondary School, retirees, and active members of the association.
According to him, the security division received 10 digital walkie-talkies, while the Medical Centre was provided with medical equipment.
“The Staff School and Demonstration Secondary School each received 15 whiteboards, one carton of markers, and ink,” he said.
The chairman further revealed that 120 SSANU members retired from active service in 2025, noting that each retiree received the sum of ₦30,000 as a token of appreciation for their contributions to the university.
He added that active members who distinguished themselves in SSANU activities were also honoured with special awards.
Yunusa said the initiative was designed to support and motivate beneficiaries, create a conducive working environment, and promote efficiency across the university.
He said that the programme would continue to grow, expressing hope that it would be sustained by successive SSANU executives.
The chairman also appealed to individuals and corporate organisations to support the association’s initiative through donations to enable it do more for the university community.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, commended SSANU for what he described as a remarkable display of corporate social responsibility.
He prayed for the sustenance of the gesture and urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and cash received.
