Don Jazzy, Davido battle as gamers duel for N2m top prize at Tech+ 2015

The duo of Nigeria’s leading entertainment brands, Don Jazzy and Davido, will be among top Nigerian celebrities squaring up against one another when the video game contest gets underway at the forthcoming Tech+ Conference and Exhibitions holding in Lagos at the Eko Hotels and Suites between July 24 and 25.

The award-winning duo took to their Twitter accounts to announce their participation and, also, throw up challenges to any would-be contestants.

Davido, who on Sunday won the MTV AMA Best Male artist Award in South Africa, had tweeted several punches on his twitter handle @ iam_davido on July 16 to highlight his readiness for the competition.

Don Jazzy, on his own part, appears set to give the ‘Gobe’ crooner a run for the prized money.

Writing on his twitter handle @DONJAZZY Jul 16, he tweeted: Think u can beat me @ FIFA 15?Come find out @ Tech+ from July 24th-25th at Eko Hotel.’

With the battle line seemingly drawn and the ground shifted from the music arena to TECH+, it remains to be seen who between these two or among other celebrities will come tops

Meanwhile, category winners and runners-up in the 2015 FIFA 2015 and Mortal Combat Games at the Tech+ Conference and Exhibitions will be going home with a total cash reward of N1.5m.

Mr. Tunji Adeyinka, whose company, Connect Marketing Services Limited, is organizing the TECH+ Conferencedisclosed this recently while speaking at a forum ahead of the epoch-making conference which is the first-ever in the country.

According to him, TECH+ is serving up an all-inclusive platform that will be featuring a Gaming Centre, thus offering everyone an avenue to interact with technology and be rewarded for such.

“TECH+ has dedicated platforms for all categories of guests. The Gaming Centre is designed to meet the social needs of some people who thrive in that area. We are however, saying it will not be just for the fun of it because the winners will be handsomely rewarded with cash prizes. This is the competition side, and we want to see the best in these games take on one another,” he said.

The reward scheme will see the winner in the FIFA 2015 category receive a cash prize of N500, 000.00 while the first and second runners-up go home with N300, 000.00 and N100, 000.00respectively. In the Mortal Combat category, the sum of N300, 000.00 goes to the winner, the second-placed person receives N200, 000.00 and the third N100, 000.00.

With the theme, ““Leadership in Digital Technology”, TECH+ will feature gaming sessions, exhibitions, the digital school, programming, plenary and break-out sessions as well as panel discussions to be led by high profile speakers drawn from local and global brands. Some of the notable speakers include Jim McKelvey (co-founder of Square), WaelFakharany (Google X Middle East and Africa) and Nicolas Martin, CEO, Jumia Africa among others.

Attendees at Tech+ will include technology consumers and businesses, manufacturers of products, service providers across diverse segments of the information and communication technology (ICT) industry and ancillary fields of human endeavor, hardware designers, manufacturers, innovators and policy makers, among others.

Interested exhibitors are urged to take the advantage provided by the TECH+ platform to give maximum exposure and visibility to their brands and to connect with the largest gathering of consumers under one roof.

TECH + is powered by MTN Nigeria with sponsorship from Huawei, Jumia, Coscharis Motors, Samsung, Google, Uber and Terragon Group. Partners include Enplug Africa, Atlantic Exhibition and Lagos State Signage and Advertising Agency (LASAA).

The exhibition will cover products and services in various areas such as healthcare and wellbeing, automobile, entertainment, education, computing, Smart Homes, Wearables, Security, gaming, 3D Printing, and displays, among others.
