Gen. Biu urges Nigerians to support Army to end Boko Haram

The General Officer Commanding, GOC, 7 Division, Brigadier General Abdumalik Bulama Biu has said that there is need for active citizen participation in the battle against Boko Haram by way of passing useful information to the security agencies with a view to completely wipe out insurgents and other forms of security challenges cross the country.

General Abdulmalik, who made the appeal when his school mates at the Government Secondary School Biu honoured him at the Multipurpose Hall of the Command Guest House, Maiduguri recently, assured that the Nigerian Army is more determined than ever to end the menace of Boko Haram and to secure Nigeria from all forms of negative infiltration by terrorist elements.

The GOC, while thanking his classmates for the honor went down memory lane, recalling the spirit of brotherhood that prevailed at their alma mater and describing the reunion with his classmates as the tonic that will galvanize him to do more for the country and the Army in particular.

He recalled how he has traversed the width and breath of Nigeria as part of his call to duty, and how his experiences have prepared him for the present job he is doing and the attendant successes recorded.

General Abdulmalik Biu, while also thanking the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai for giving him the opportunity to exhibit his combatant capabilities, said, he can see light at the end of the tunnel as he and his troops are planning to soon celebrate the total routing out of Boko Haram.

The GOC paid glowing tributes to some of their classmates who died after they parted thirty four years ago, and encouraged the ones still around to seek out each other and to remain their brothers’ keepers.

He described the event as a family reunion which will leave indelible memories with him and his colleagues.

He dedicated the plaque presented to him to the sweet memories of their days in school.

The occasion, which was graced by many of his classmates, also saw to the formation of what is to be called GSS Biu Class of 84.

While presenting the plaque of honor to the GOC 7 Div of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu, the spokesman of the group, former Commissioner for Information, Borno state, Mr. Inuwa Bwala, described the GOC as one of the best hands the Nigerian Army parades in the battle against Boko Haram insurgency.

The Secondary school classmates of the new GOC at Government Secondary School, Biu said he is a worthy ambassador of their alma mater and urged the people of Borno State to support him to end Boko Harem insurgency .

Mr, Inuwa Bwala while presenting the plaque of honor to General Biu on behalf of his colleagues, commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai for sending one of his best to Maiduguri in the continued war against Boko Haram.

According to him, Gen. Biu’s classmates who passed out of GSS Biu with him in 1984 can vouch for his capability and doggedness in the battle against Boko Haram and are convinced that Boko Haram will soon be a thing of the past with Bulama Biu in charge.

He stressed the need for active citizen participation in the battle against Boko Haram by way of passing useful information to the command.  Biu’s classmates expressed optimism that the Chief of Army Staff will see reason to allow Bulama Biu finish up the already won war against Boko Haram.
