Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets secured a 2-1 win over their Argentine counterparts in a test game on Wednesday as they reached the business end of their preparation for the Fifa Under-17 World Cup to be held in Chile from next week.

Eaglets head coach, Emmanuel Amuneke and his wards are in the Argentine capital for the final leg of their preparations as Nigeria try to defend the trophy they won two years ago in the UAE.

The match was scheduled for Tuesday evening but had to be postponed because of weather conditions in the Argentine capital which forced the game to be shifted to Wednesday.

The game was divided into two halves of 40 minutes by the organisers and Argentina started the brighter of the two sides testing the Nigerian defence.

The Eaglets were able to get into the game and scored in the 21st minute through a beautiful combination between Chinedu Madueke and Bamgboye who set up team’s top scorer Victor Osimhen for the opener.

Bamgboye, who has been a revelation in the team since rejoining the squad after their fourth-place finish at the Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations, scored the second goal in the 51st minute to give Nigeria a 2-0 lead.

Argentina got a goal back through Julio Conechny to reduce the deficit as the Golden Eaglets held on to get the victory.

Nigeria are in Group A of the 2015 Fifa Under-17 World Cup alongside hosts Chile, Croatia and the United States.
