Osimhen sets sights on Champions League glory with Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen has set his sights on leading Galatasaray to new heights in the UEFA Champions League, saying the time has come for the Turkish giants to make their mark on Europe.

Speaking ahead of the club’s clash against Ajax, the Super Eagles forward said he is driven by a strong desire to help Galatasaray prove themselves on the biggest stage after years of domestic dominance.

“We’ve dominated the league for years, but now it’s time to make a statement in the Champions League,” Osimhen said. “We want the world to recognise Galatasaray because of what we achieve in Europe.”

The 2023 CAF Player of the Year joined the Turkish champions permanently this season in a record €75 million deal from Napoli after a successful loan spell in which he scored 37 goals and won both the league and cup titles.

Osimhen also spoke passionately about the support he received from Galatasaray fans, describing it as a key source of motivation.

“When I arrived in Istanbul, I was shocked by the love I saw,” he said. “Thousands of fans were waiting at the airport at two or three in the morning. That kind of support gives you fire. You just want to give everything for the badge.”

Now, the Nigerian striker — who has already broken the club’s record for most consecutive goals in European competitions — says he is focused on repaying that love with performances that will make Galatasaray a force across the continent.

“I love this club and I’m ready to fight for it in every game,” Osimhen said. “The Champions League is where we must make our statement.”
