Gov. Inuwa releases  N110 million to address Gombe water scarcity

Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya has ordered the release of the sum of N110 million to the State Water Board to address the water scarcity bedevilling some parts of the State capital and its environs.

The areas to benefit from the Governor’s immediate intervention are Wuro-Juli, Tabra, Nayinawa, Kanoyel among others who had suffered untold hardship before the assumption of office of Governor Inuwa Yahaya on May 29th, 2019.

A release signed and made available to newsmen by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Uba Misilli said the Governor has directed the immediate commencement of pipe works to convey water from the upper zone reservoir to Wuro-Juli, Tabra and Nayinawa quarters and ensure adequate water distribution to the residents of the affected areas which is estimated to cost over N88 million.

According to him, the Governor also directed the taskforce on water supply to undertake water reticulation works in some areas of the of Federal Low-cost Gombe, Government Girls Secondary School Doma and its environs, Kanoyel as well as communities along the water line which will cost N21 million.

Governor Inuwa had on his first official engagement assignment after assuming office, taken a tour of the State Water Board and the Dadin-Kowa Treatment Plant and thereafter inaugurated a taskforce on water supply under the chairmanship of Engineer Abubakar Bappa following an outcry by residents of most parts of the State capital on the scarcity of water.

According to the Governor, during an interview, he will leave no stone unturned to ensure that pipe bone water returns to taps in the houses of residents of Gombe and other parts of the State.

Apart from tackling the water scarcity, the task force committee was also inaugurated to boost supply in the metropolis as well as other areas that had not been linked with water before now.
