Senegal make history, beat England 3-1

Jubilation

Senegal played very well to beat England 3-1 in an international friendly at the City Ground, becoming the first African team to ever defeat the Three Lions.

England started strong, with Harry Kane scoring in the 7th minute, but Senegal stayed calm and slowly took control of the game.

Just before half-time, Ismaila Sarr scored for Senegal after a mistake from Kyle Walker, making it 1-1. It was the first goal England conceded since Thomas Tuchel became manager.

In the second half, Habib Diarra gave Senegal the lead after running through England’s defence and scoring past Dean Henderson.

England tried to fight back, but goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made big saves from Morgan Gibbs-White and Bukayo Saka. Jude Bellingham thought he had equalised late on, but VAR ruled the goal out because of a handball by Levi Colwill.

Senegal ended the game in style when Cheikh Sabaly scored in stoppage time after Curtis Jones lost the ball. He finished calmly to make it 3-1 and silence the home fans.

The result ends England’s 21-game unbeaten run against African teams. For Senegal, it was a proud and historic night in Nottingham.
