Lagos Procurement Agency holds induction programme for new officers

Lagos State Public Procurement Agency has organised a nine-day induction programme for the newly recruited and newly converted officers to build their capacity to render quality service.

The General Manager, Engr. Akin Onimole, while declaring the programme opened at the ABAT Centre, Secretariat Alausa, Ikeja, stated that the objective of the training is to build the capacity of participants with practical skill necessary to improve the economy and ensure efficiency and transparency in the management of public procurement operations.

Onimole said the officers will be exposed to the obligation of the Accounting officer, the specific job functions of the procurement officer and how they relate with other professions as well as the role of management during each stage of procurement cycles.

He, therefore, enjoined the participants to pay attention to the lectures which is meant to educate them on the procurement operations and management of procurement cycle as well as implementation strategy needed for the task ahead.

Participants were taken through various topics such as the process involved in public sector financial management, effect of budget preparation process and the indices to monitor and determine budget performance as well as overview of procurement process and public procurement, amongst others.
