Performing the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House Enugu, Governor Ugwuanyi said that his appointment followed the recommendation and approval of the National Judicial Council in line with the rule guiding the process.
Governor Ugwuanyi recalled that Justice Nnamani had been acting in that capacity since last year and that his eventual emergence as the substantive president of the apex customary court came after he was nominated along with another judge.
He explained that the appointment was timely in order not to create a vacuum in the Customary Court of Appeal in the state.
The governor noted that Justice Nnamani’s track records which are worthy of emulation informed his appointment and thanked the members of the bar and bench for their massive turn-out at the event.
Earlier, the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Innocent A. Umezulike said that the appointment of Justice Nnamani was based on merit.
He advised him not to betray the trust and confidence reposed in him but to discharge his duties and responsibilities in line with the rules and the law without fear or favour.
Justice Nnamani in his response said that he felt elated, happy and humbled, noting that the trust and confidence reposed in him would not be betrayed.
