Ijaw Diaspora Council writes Tinubu on appointment of Mrs. Walson-Jack as Head of Civil Service

The Ijaw Diaspora Council (IDC) has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his appointment of Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, noting that the appointment, which takes effect on August 14, 2024, will mark “a significant moment for our nation and, indeed, for the Ijaw community.”

In a letter dated July 18, 2024 and addressed to President Tinubu, the IDC noted that “Mrs. Walson-Jack’s appointment is a demonstration of the rich talents and capabilities within our nation’s diverse population and underscores the importance of recognizing and leveraging these strengths for the betterment of our country.”

Endorsed by Mrs. Gesiere Brisibe-Dorgu, Chairperson, IDC, the letter acknowledged the joy of members of the Council at the appointment of Mrs. Walson-Jack, pointing out that they are encouraged by the charge of the President “to the incoming Head of Service to discharge her duties with innovative flair, integrity, and stringent adherence to the extant rules and regulations of the Civil Service of the Federation.

“These qualities are essential for driving the reforms and improvements needed in our civil service to meet the challenges of the 21st century. We are confident that under Mrs. Walson-Jack’s leadership, the civil service will continue to evolve and serve as a pillar of efficiency, transparency, and excellence in governance.”

The IDC assured President Tinubu of their support for, and cooperation with, Mrs. Walson-Jack and his administration, while looking forward to a future where the civil service, under Mrs. Walson-Jack’s stewardship, “plays a pivotal role in fostering national development, unity, and prosperity.”

The Council also expressed optimism about the positive impact that the leadership of Mrs. Walson-Jack will have on the country’s civil service and, by extension, on Nigeria as a whole.
